Natalie Samarasinghe, the UNA-UK Executive Director, visited Northern Ireland on 20 and 21 October 2014 to meet with UNA members and students and spoke at a public event. Before the public meeting, the opportunity was taken to launch the UNA-NI website and to thank the students who were responsible for its production. IT students from Methodist College, Belfast, with the support of their teacher, Mrs Ngaire McCann, worked on this project during their summer holidays. They attended the UNA-NI event in October to present the website. In acknowledging and thanking the students for their work, the following comments were made: that the site is clean, simple and user friendly, and that the inclusion of a good archive of news stories is good. The students were photographed with Natalie Samarasinghe, after receiving certificates of appreciation from UNA-NI. Natalie's visit also included a meeting with students from Our Lady and St Patrick's College, Knock. The School encourages students to learn about world issues. An initiative has led to the appointment of United Nations Young Ambassadors from the students who met with Natalie to talk about their roles.
