Thirteen people were acknowledged, including local UNA member, Virginia Hardy, who received her award from Conall McDevitt, Vice Chairman of the APGID.
Local UNA-NI Chairperson, Judith Fawcett, said “Virginia Hardy has just returned from her 21st annual visit of working with the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul in the fields of education, health care and social work in Ethiopia. While in her paid employment with the BBC in Northern Ireland for 32 years, she took a break of six years to work for the United Nations in New York. As an active member of UNA since the 1960s and in recognition of her considerable development work since her retirement, Virginia was an ideal UNA nomination and we are delighted that she was honoured in this way”.
