To mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Armagh Robinson Library produced a temporary exhibition of items from its own collection on children's rights from the 18th century. The launch was carried out on 22/11/19 by several people, including Koulla Yiasouma, the Northern Ireland Children's Commission for Children and Young People with School Principal, Eileen Trew, Classroom Assistant, Sonia Ritchie and Primary 3 pupils from the Drelincourt School, Armagh, and with UNA-NI representatives, Carol Conlin, who is also Assistant Keeper of Armagh Robinson Library, UNA-NI's Hon Treasurer, Judith Fawcett and UNA-NI's Hon Secretary, Maureen Maguire.
Photograph Credit: Ian Maginess Oakgrove Integrated College, Derry hosted this well organised event on United Nations Day - 24 October, for which UNA-NI thanked them sincerely. An introduction and a welcome were given by Oakgrove's Principal, Mrs Katrina Crilly. The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Michaela Boyle, talked about the importance of ensuring that we try to bring the principles of the UN into our daily lives. She made particular reference to human rights and the UN Human Rights Declaration. Mr John Harkin, Oakgrove College's Vice Principal introduced the presentations. A number of schools and colleges attended the event and made presentations. Representatives are featured in the following photographs.
