A Model UN in Northern Ireland was held on Saturday 9 February 2013 using the school premises of Methodist College Belfast as a venue. This one-day event was built on a joint conference which was held the previous year in Wallace High School, Lisburn.
Invitations to the Model UN were sent to schools from the Greater Belfast area, as well as other areas in Northern Ireland and also Dublin. Both schools which have sent students to such conferences in the past, and schools which have not participated before, were encouraged to attend, with the intention of introducing more young people to the MUN experience and building a larger network of participating schools. 150 participants, including delegates, senior committee members and teacher advisors, took part in the conference.
A report of the conference was compiled to record the solutions reached by the students to the world issues at hand. This report can be found here.
